Monday night, the Lafayette Charter Commission voted to request an extension from the City-Parish Council. The commission, which is discussing possible changes to the home-rule charter, is currently working on a deadline of April 21st.

By state law the commission would only be allowed a 9-month extension, but that's pending approval by the council, which will likely not have a chance to vote on the extension for another 6 weeks.
