Lafayette board sets vote on teacher's termination

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Lafayette Parish School Board is expected to decide Wednesday whether to uphold the termination of a middle school teacher for alleged misconduct.
Jude Fero, an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Lafayette Middle School, was recommended for termination in May.
The recommendation by Director of Schools Janet Hiatt was based in part on students' and Lafayette Middle School staff statements that Fero allegedly made inappropriate comments about a female
teacher.
Fero is also accused of distributing a Facebook page allegedly belonging to Principal Monique Magee. According to court records, it allegedly contained sexual comments and an inappropriate picture
of the principal.
Fero's hearing is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. He could request the hearing be closed to the public.
