LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - An eighth-grade history teacher who allegedly discussed and distributed inappropriate information to students and sued the Lafayette Parish School Board in an attempt
to bar it from using evidence of the allegations has been terminated.
The termination of Lafayette Middle School teacher Christopher Jude Fero was the end of a months-long process that began with Fero suing the School Board in August, accusing it of violating teacher tenure law and the school personnel files act.
All board members voted for the termination Wednesday, except Mark Cockerham who abstained. He was absent for part of the discussion.
Fero's attorney, Ike Funderburk, said he was unsure if they would appeal the board's decision.
