Lafayette Ballet Theatre presents Copplia

LAFAYETTE - Lafayette Ballet Theatre and international guest artists will present "Coppélia" - a full-length classical ballet in three acts - at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.

Set to a playful score by Leo Delibes and based on original choreography by Arthur Saint-Leon, E.T.A. Hoffman's "Coppélia" is a fun family comedy about a toymaker who attempts to bring his beloved doll to life. Starring in the lead roles are Houston Ballet principal dancers Melody Mennite and Joseph Walsh, along with Rene Micheo, formerly of the Cincinnati Ballet.

Tickets may be purchased through the Heymann Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets may call the Heymann Center box office at 337-291-5555 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends during scheduled events, or visit anytime. Tickets are priced according to seat location, as follows: front orchestra, $40; back orchestra, $35; first balcony, $30, second balcony, $20. Prices listed do not include Ticketmaster fees.

Students of all ages will receive a 50-percent discount on balcony level tickets beginning Friday, Feb. 1. High school and college students with valid ID will receive 50 percent off tickets for any seat in the house still available 30 minutes prior to the performance.
