Update: KATC received the following response from DA Mike Harson: "I have received the letter. I will possibly respond at a later time after further consideration of its contents."
Ahead of this fall's election, Lafayette Attorney Glenn Armentor is calling on District Attorney Mike Harson to resign.
Armentor is circulating a letter among the legal community, asking for other attorneys to also demand Harson's resignation.
Armentor says it all stems from the DUI bribery scandal in Harson's office, which Armentor says is "black eye" on the legal profession.
Earlier this month Harson sent out a letter to voters in Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion parishes, apologizing for misplacing his trust and not preventing the scandal.
Three of Harson's employees pled guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for favorable treatment in DUI cases. Harson says he had no knowledge of, or involvement in the scheme.
Armentor says he has no plans to run for District Attorney.
