The Lafayette Airport Commission has welcomed a new commissioner to provide oversight to Lafayette Regional Airport. The Lafayette Parish Council appointed Lafayette resident and local businessman Tim Skinner to serve on the commission. Skinner has been involved in local business for over 25 years and has accounting, finance, tax, risk management and real estate experience. He is currently the owner of several business ventures, including DenMar Staffing; First Louisiana Commerce, LLC; Louisiana Laundry Group, LLC; Tilmun Property, LLC; and Ruby Rentals, LLC. He is also a commercial real estate agent with Keaty Real Estate.
Skinner has an extensive aviation background as a commercial pilot and flight instructor since 1986. He also served 10 years as a volunteer emergency services mission and flight instructor with the Civil Air Patrol.
Lafayette Airport Commission Chairman Carroll Robichaux believes the business experience Skinner brings to the commission will be an asset. "Mr. Skinner has been involved in business in Lafayette for a long time and has financial and commercial property experience that will be invaluable to the commission. The fact that he is a licensed commercial pilot and certified flight instructor is a huge plus because he understands the aviation industry and airport operations," he says.
Skinner says he looks forward to working with the commission. "I am excited to serve on the Lafayette Airport Commission," he says. "I look forward to doing what I can to help keep our airport moving forward as an important community asset and valuable community service."
He will complete the term of former commissioner Dr. Charles Wyatt, who resigned in December after serving 10 years on the commission.
Skinner is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a BS in Finance and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe to study General Aviation. He has a long history of public service with Rotary Club of Lafayette, Civil Air Patrol, Academy of the Sacred Heart, Lafayette North Development Committee, National Business Aviation Association, Experimental Aircraft Association and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
