Lacombe Man Sentenced for Fraud Linked to Katrina

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 53-year-old Lacombe man has been sentenced
in connection with a disaster loan he and his wife applied for in
the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Keith Stobaugh was sentenced Wednesday to three years of
probation and fined $1,500 following his guilty plea to misprision
of a felony in connection with a Small Business Administration
loan.
Court documents show that Stobaugh and his wife, Denise, applied
for a loan to repair hurricane damage. The SBA granted the pair
$38,800. Denise Stobaugh also applied for financial help from the
Louisiana Road Home Program for the same damage and was awarded
$150,000.
Officials, however, say the home suffered minimal damage.
Both pleaded guilty Dec. 17. Sentencing for Denise Stobaugh is
set for July 28.
