LaCare Encourages Louisianans to Pick Purple During 2013 Bayou Health Open Enrollment

Baton Rouge, La. - LaCare, a Medicaid managed care plan serving Louisiana and part of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies (AMFC), is encouraging Louisianans to "pick purple" during the 2013 open enrollment period for Bayou Health, the state's Medicaid managed care program. Eligible beneficiaries have a 60-day period, based on their geographic service area (GSA), in which they can become LaCare members.

The new advertising campaign builds on the connection that LaCare's community outreach teams have made with the state's underserved populations. Team members wear purple shirts when interacting with the public, and the color has become associated with LaCare's community programs.

The "Pick Purple" campaign is currently being featured in radio, print media and billboard advertisements across the state.

"Many of the attendees at our community outreach events refer to our associates as ‘the purple people,'" said Kathy Stone, executive director of LaCare. "The ‘Pick Purple' campaign builds on our presence in the community. We want all Louisianans to associate the color purple with LaCare's commitment to building healthy communities throughout the state."

The open enrollment deadlines are January 30 for Greater New Orleans and Northshore residents (GSA A), March 27 for Capital Area, South Central Louisiana and Acadiana residents (GSA B) and May 30 for the rest of the state (GSA C). Those electing to change health plans during their GSA's open enrollment period will start with their new plan on February 1, April 1 and June 1, respectively.
