RUSTON, La. (AP) - Louisiana Tech University's bachelor of science program in nanosystems engineering has become the first in the United States to be accredited by ABET Inc.
The program was the first of its kind in the United States. Nanotechnology is the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. ABET accredits educational programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology.
The accreditation will permit graduates in nanosystems engineering to take the fundamental engineering exam and apply to the state engineering board to become engineers in training.
Louisiana Tech says it is currently developing a program in cyber engineering.
