The Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival and Fair Association has selected Mr. Perry Segura as Mr. Iberia 2014. He was formally introduced at the "Stars of Style" fundraiser held Wednesday, July 23rd at the Cade Community Center in St. Martinville.
Mr. Segura graduated in 1947 from New Iberia High School, a member of Mu Sigma, an honorary scholastic society and was quarterback of the 1946 football team. He graduated from L S U in 1954, and received a B. S. degree in Architectural Engineering. While a student at L S U, Mr. Segura was selected to Tau Beta Pi, an honorary Academic Society, and was winner of the A. I. A. Architectural design award.
Mr. Segura has served as a member of the L S U Board of Supervisors for 10 years and served as Vice-Chairman for the year 1996-1997 and was elected Chairman for the year 1997-1998.
Mr. Segura is an architect located in New Iberia, Louisiana and is licensed to practice in most other states in the United States and has to his credit many outstanding buildings in Louisiana and other parts of the United States. Mr. Segura is also a Sugar Cane Farmer in New Iberia as well as the developer of Squirrel Run Golf Course and Subdivision along with many other real holdings throughout Louisiana.
The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce selected him as the outstanding citizen in Iberia Parish in 1990. Other awards received by Mr. Segura include:

Award of Appreciation from Iberia Parish Recreation Board (1989-1990)
Award of Appreciation for Dedication and Service to Our Community Hospital Member Board of Commissioners of Iberia General Hospital & Medical Center February 1992 - June 1996
Honorary Chapter FFA Degree from St. James Parish FFA
Lifetime member of the Board for (NRPA) National Recreation and Parks Association
Segura is a member of the following organizations:
L S U Alumni Association, L S U Athletic Foundation, American Institute of Architects, New Iberia Kiwanis Club, Past Chairman of United Givers Fund, Board Member of Evangeline Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, Past 1st Vice President of Evangeline Downs Race Track, Past Board of Directors of Peoples National Bank, Past Director of Universal Fabricators and Past President of Lost Diners Club. Served on the L S U Board of Supervisors from 1994-2004. Has been a member of the Iberia Parish Democratic Committee for over 50 years.
Mr. Segura is married to Emma Lou Davant and the father of five children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
