NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is getting some help from Louisiana as it cares for and shelters hundreds of animals displaced by Superstorm Sandy.
The Louisiana SPCA says in a news release that it has sent a team of staffers and volunteers to the emergency boarding facility established in Brooklyn by the ASPCA with help from a $500,000 grant from TV personality Rachael Ray.
The Louisiana team is handling duties that include feeding, walking and cleaning of the animals and maintenance of the temporary shelter.
