BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says the 2010 spring inshore shrimp season in parts of zones 1 and 3 will close at 6 a.m. Tuesday to protect increased numbers of juvenile white shrimp.
On its website, the department describes areas where shrimping will still be allowed.
It notes that the closure is based on biological recommendations made by LDWF Office of Fisheries biologists and is not related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
