Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association President Chris John disagrees with President Obama's decision to release 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In a released statement, he said it should be used for its intended purpose which is to provide oil reserves during supply disruption.
"As we head into the hurricane season, the SPR is strategically situated to handle real supply interruptions like those we witnessed during Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav. A release from the Reserve at this time is bad public policy and is not consistent with the original intent of the SPR," said John.
