BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge man has pleaded guilty to tampering with the odometers of high-mileage vehicles he purchased online and from wholesale automobile auctions in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
Beau Michael Guidry, owner of Affordable Imports in Denham Springs, pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of odometer tampering.
Federal prosecutors said the vehicles' odometers were rolled back by as much as 147,000 miles before Guidry resold them at his lot in Denham Springs or through eBay.
According to prosecutors, Guidry wasn't required to sign a disclosure certifying the accuracy of odometer readings on many vehicles because they were more than 10 years old.
