LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A Maurice man who was convicted of concealing bankruptcy assets has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Rebecca Doherty in Lafayette on Tuesday sentenced 52-year-old Thad Corey Theall to 27 months in prison and ordered him to repay $50,000 to the bankruptcy estate.
Federal prosecutors say Theall concealed about $100,000 in proceeds from the sale of a building when he filed for bankruptcy in June 2005. He also allegedly provided false testimony about the sale of the property while under oath during a meeting of creditors.
A jury convicted him in April 2011.
