NEW ORLEANS (AP) A New Orleans man has been arrested on a charge he used his dead brother's identity to fraudulently obtain Medicaid benefits.
Federal prosecutors said 58-year-old Lionel Perkins used his brother's identity to seek reimbursement for goods, services and care, including from pharmacies in Baton Rouge and Jefferson.
Perkins was arrested Wednesday on charges of health care fraud. He already faced charges of defrauding the federal government out of more than $300,000 in Hurricane Katrina-related funds.
Perkins faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if he is convicted of the new charge.
