BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Zachary man has been arrested on suspicion of illegally dumping gasoline and diesel at a Port Allen casino.
Investigators from the state Department of Environmental Quality arrested 56-year-old Leon Wallace on Wednesday on a charge of knowingly discharging a substance that could endanger human life or health. The charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
DEQ officials say Wallace was driving a tanker truck for a Denham Springs company when he accidentally mixed several hundred gallons of diesel with several thousand gallons of gas that was already in the vehicle.
Wallace allegedly dumped an unknown amount of the mixture at the rear of the Super Lucky Louie Casino on the night of Jan. 25.
