COLFAX, La. (AP) - The Grant Parish Sheriff's Office says video
arraignment technology will be used for defendants at the parish
jail.
Sheriff Baxter Welch tells The Alexandria Town Talk that the
system, supplemented by federal grant dollars, will be used for
arraignment and bond hearings and will have an immediate positive
impact on the judicial system.
He said the new technology will reduce costs and streamline
operations by allowing the jail staff to be freed from the daily
responsibility of prepping and transporting inmates for court
hearings.
