The owner of a personal care services agency has been arrested on charges she billed Louisiana's Medicaid program for services that weren't provided.
Louisiana Attorney General James "Buddy" Caldwell's office says 36-year-old Ruth Wicks Smith was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison last Thursday on eight counts of Medicaid fraud.
Smith owns Heavenly Hands Personal Care Services in Baker.
Agencies like Smith's provide Medicaid recipients with caregiver services, such as cooking, grooming, and bathing.
Each fraud count is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
