The state will begin mailing notices this week for 75,000 toll violations over a two-year period on the La. Highway 1 bridge in Leeville.
Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera issued a report last year that said state transportation officials allowed up to 300,000 cars and trucks to use the bridge without operators paying.
He also said transportation officials failed to send delinquency notices for 39,700 toll violations as required by state law.
State officials blamed computer problems for delays in processing the notices, which took place from 2009-11.
More than 27,000 invoices for the 75,000 violations will be mailed in increments.
