Krotz Spring Chief's Husband Will Go To Prison

OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - The 67-year-old husband of Krotz Springs
Chief of Police Susan Lacassin has been sentenced to five years at
hard labor in connection with his April 22 conviction on one count
of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Arthur Douglas Lacassin provided no statement prior to his
sentencing on Thursday before state District Judge Donald Hebert,
who presided over Lacassin's two-day trial.
Prior to sentencing, Hebert allowed a statement that was read by
the victim, who court records show was about 10 years old at the
time of the incident.
Defense attorney Edward Lopez asked Hebert
for a lesser sentence that included probation and house arrest for
Lacassin.
Hebert said his sentence was based upon the prolonged emotional
impact the incident has had upon the victim and her family.
