Kops and Kids Event in St. Landry Parish

Pictured are participants in the third all girls Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz Kops & Kids Hunting, Boating and Camping outing. The event was held the weekend of July 24th,2010.

Ten young girls from the Washington, Palmetto Opelousas and Port Barre area were taken on an afternoon wagon ride in the woods, shot b.b. guns at targets, learned about gun safety, gathered around the camp fire, played checkers against the sheriff and each other, and were taken on a party barge boat ride from Washington, LA to the Bayou Teche Park in Port Barre.

Female sheriff deputies and female volunteers supervised and chaperoned the campout. Sheriff Guidroz wants to remind parent(s) and guardian(s) that are interested in signing up a youngster for a weekend of camping with deputies to pick up an application at the sheriff's department on Market Street, at the department fleet garage on West Landry Street in Opelousas, or go online to www.slpsheriff.com and follow the link to Kops & Kids.
