Komen Acadiana's Race for the Cure is our community's largest fundraising event to provide research, screening, education and treatment services for breast cancer patients in Acadiana. Through Race for the Cure, money is raised by participants in a variety of ways. One of the simplest ways to raise funds is by taking the Power of 10 Challenge. Participants simply ask 10 people for $10. "That $100 raised could provide a woman with a mammogram or could pay for a portion of treatment or transportation to treatment," says Susan Boudreaux, volunteer race chairperson.
This week Kristie Shores, the team captain for Keller's Bakery of Youngsville race team, is the Pink Honor Roll winner. Kristie's name was entered into a drawing of those who raised $100 or more this week, and she won a Chris' Poboys gift certificate.
Drawings will be held each week before Race for the Cure, March 16, 2013, as an incentive for fundraising efforts. Please visit www.komenacadiana.org for more information on how to win.
Komen Acadiana's vision is a world without breast cancer. Its promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.
