A group of women is teaming up to help soldiers overseas keep warm in the upcoming winter months. Volunteers send 140 helmet liners and gators—which are neck warmers, to the 10th Mountain Division Last month, but now they are turning their focus to the soldiers in the 256th.
Volunteers met for the first time today to work on a batch of hand stitched neck warmers and helmet liners to send to the 256th. They have a few months left to make 500 gators and helmet liners before the cold weather hits. Volunteers are asking for anyone willing to help.
The next knitting meeting is March 24th from 10 to 3 at the Eunice Depot Museum. Beginners and experienced knitters are both encouraged to come. Approved military yarn and needles will be provided for all volunteers. For more information contact the Depot Museum at 337-457-6540.
