Questionable weather couldn't keep crowds away in Lafayette. The King's Parade started rolling at ten in the morning.
Lafayette resident, Judith Coury, said "it's a fun day, people that don't come out here, can't appreciate the fun that they can have for something like this.
Another resident, Kayla Derousselle, said "its a family tradition, we go every year every year."
Some traveled hundreds of miles to come here and take part in their first Mardi Gras, they say it's exceeding all of their expectation."
Lauren carter said, "can't get anything like this up in Colorado."
New York resident, Bridget Bose, said "I didn't know what to expect at all, it's much bigger and more colorful then I expected."
Dot Bose said, "and floats this is amazing. I've never seen floats like this before."
Dot and Dennis Bose traveled from Colorado, their favorite part was seeing extravagant floats and being showered with beads.
Dot said, "I already have a bag of very different beads and we are looking forward to this too to get even more. We may have to pay extra baggage fees to get our beads back."
