KINDER, La. (AP) - Residents could soon be cruising around town on golf carts if Kinder's Town Council approves a plan to allow the use of street-legal golf carts and other slow-speed vehicles on town streets.
Mayor Estes LeDoux tells The American Press the idea was brought mainly for the convenience of older residents so they can get around without having a vehicle.
Under the plan, the carts would be allowed only from sunrise to sunset on town streets and designated highway crossings with restrictions, including speed limits of 25 mph or less. A licensed driver would have to be behind the wheel and a $10 annual permit must be issued by Kinder police.
The council has not indicated when it will decide the issue.
