Country music star and Lafayette resident Sammy Kershaw is singing at speaking at a Tea Party Patriot event in St. Louis, MO on September 12. The St. Louis Tea Party will take place under the Gateway Arch from noon to 4:00 pm.
Kershaw, meanwhile is keeping busy with state politics. He is one of eight contenders in the race to replace former Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, who stepped down to take over as Mayor of New Orleans. This is the singer's second time running for the office. He lost to Landrieu in 2007.
An August poll conducted by Southern Media and Opinion Research has Kershaw in second behind Secretary of State Jay Dardenne. Meanwhile, the Lafayette Tea Party is backing candidate Roger Villere. He's currently the Chairman of the Louisiana Republican Party.
The election is October second.
Kershaw has recorded a video invitation for the upcoming Tea Party event. Click here to see it.
