Baton Rouge, LA - Sammy Kershaw, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, made his candidacy official today by qualifying at the Secretary of State's office in Baton Rouge.
"I am looking forward to this race and visiting with the people across this state to talk about my Real Plan for Louisiana. The primary job of the Lt. Governor is to promote the people and culture of every region of Louisiana. I am the only candidate that is qualified to do this job and I want to represent my state," said Kershaw. "With a focus on using our tourism industry to drive economic development, solidifying the entertainment industry, starting a Branson type city, reinventing the Sportsman's Paradise and bringing Arts Education to the forefront for our communities, I know that under my leadership, the Lt. Governor's office will positively impact the state at a time when we need someone that can be a voice for Louisiana. With a state in crisis because of the oil spill, we need someone that can promote Louisiana to the rest of the state and the world an let them know, Louisiana is still open for business."
Sammy Kershaw has signed a pledge promising not to run for any other office while serving as Louisiana's Lt. Governor. He has challenged every other candidate in the race to sign the same pledge. To date, none have done so.
A lifelong conservative, Sammy Kershaw has worked to elect candidates to office that represent a voice for smaller government, lower taxes and the entrepreneurial spirit that has served as the backbone of Louisiana business.
