KENNER, La. (AP) - Kenner supermarket owners have paid nearly $65,000 in back wages to 18 current and former employees following a Labor Department investigation.
The department said Wednesday that the owners of Celina's International Supermarket LLC and Kenner Supermarket Inc. also have agreed to properly maintain payroll records.
The department's wage and hour division investigated allegations that the supermarket owners violated the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime, minimum wage and record-keeping provisions.
The probe found employees weren't paid for cleaning the supermarkets after they closed, while others who worked more than 40 hours in a week didn't get paid for overtime.
