Kari joined the KATC news team December 2013 after working as an online producer for the Los Angeles Times. At the Times, she assisted with the video team, promoted articles on social media and managed content on the website. While she loved staying up-to-date with news, she felt like she was sitting on the sidelines and decided to dash into the news field at KATC.
Kari grew up in Sherrill, NY and attended Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism May 2013. She worked as a reporter for the college news station, ICTV Newswatch 16, and was the multimedia editor for the Pacemaker award-winning newspaper, The Ithacan. While attending college she developed a special interest in health and science reporting, starting a health broadcast at the college news station and a health blog at the newspaper. She engaged further in that field when she helped make the documentary "Food Feud," which revealed the role big businesses play in the organic industry.
In her free time Kari loves to run, hike, play recreational sports, read, write, blog, try new food/drink and tweet about her adventures. Her life motto follows suit with Joe Dirt's quote, "Life's a garden, dig it!"
