According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, one Kaplan man is behind bars following the rape of a Vermilion Parish female which alledgelly took place sometime in the early morning hours of October 11/2009.
Sheriff Couvillon says that the Sheriff's office received the complaint at approximately 5:32 am and upon deputies arrival at the residence, were able to obtain information on the idenity of the suspect as well as a vehicle description.
Sheriff Couvillon further stated that at some point phone communication was established with the suspect identified as Trey Presely W/M DOB 11/19/81 of 32612 W. La. 82 Kaplan, La. 70548, Who stated that he had a weapon, and was not going to jail.
Sheriff Couvillon further stated that because of the statement made by Presely, Vermilion Parish Special Response Team, K-9 unit, and detectives were called out as a security measure to assist in attempting to locate Presely.
Sheriff Couvillon says that Presely's vehicle was located parked on the shoulder of the roadway in Pecan Island off of LA. 82, and a perimiter was set up and a portion of LA. 82 closed off with assistance of Louisiana State Police and Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office until Presely was located.
Sheriff Couvillon says that the K-9 unit and SRT members conducted an extensive search of the area within the grid and located Presely hiding in the rafters of a shed.
Presely was arrested and taken into custody without incident and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on 1CT. of simple rape with bond set at $100,000.00 and Presely was also arrested on an additional charge stemming from a previous crime of 2nd degree robbery and that bond was set at $50,000.00
