Press Release: According to Chief Boyd Adams, the Kaplan Police Department investigated a complaint in reference to an alleged Domestic Abuse. The Kaplan Police Departments quick response and investigation led to the arrest of Ernie Lejeune. Lejeune was charged with Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and Second Degree Kidnapping.
Chief Adams said Lejeune is accused of allegedly holding his spouse against her will by bounding her in
duct tape, allegedly trying to strangle and then suffocating her with a pillow. Lejeune then allegedly held a knife to his spouse's throat and threatened to kill her, and then cut her clothes off.
Lejeune then allegedly put duct tape on the
doors and windows to keep his spouse and children confined to the residence. Lejeune's spouse was able
to convince him to let her bring their children to the baby sitter. Lejeune allegedly threatened his spouse that if she did not return home he would hunt her down and kill her and the children. Once freed, the Kaplan Police Department was notified of the incident and responded.
Chief Adams would like to commend the swift
response and action of Sgt. Joshua Hardy, Ptn. Seth Comeaux, Ptn. David Peters and Lt. Barry Krawchuk
in the investigation and arrest of LeJeune.
Chief Adams states that this is a continuous effort in fighting the war on crime, and. assures the
citizens of Kaplan that his Police Department will continue with such dedication in fighting the war on
crime. Chief Adams believes that with such prompt response and dedication from his police officers, the
complaint didn't lead to a death. Lejeune is in Kaplan Police Dept jail without bond. Chief Adams
would also like to thank the Mayor and Council for their support in the Police Department.
