A few less drugs are on the streets of Rayne thanks to the Rayne Police Department.
Saturday morning, Rayne police officers arrested a juvenile for possession with intent to distribute a schedule two controlled dangerous substance.
The juvenile was observed in a high drug area when police attempted to talk to the suspect. The juvenile then fled on foot without provocation and the officers pursued. The juvenile discarded a pack of cigarettes which contained crack cocaine.
The juvenile was transported to the Rayne Police Department where he was booked for resisting an officer and drug charges. The juvenile was later released to a parent or guardian.
Chief Stelly states, "It is frustrating to see a young man such as this on the streets selling drugs. Yet, we will continue to enforce the drug laws of the state with zero-tolerance no matter the age."
