Jury deliberates in Texan stand-your-ground case

HOUSTON (AP) - A jury is deliberating the sentence of a man convicted of murder who claimed Texas' version of a stand-your-ground law allowed him to fatally shoot a neighbor in a confrontation about a noisy party.
Raul Rodriguez faces up to life in prison in the 2010 killing of Kelly Danaher.
In closing arguments Wednesday in Houston, Rodriguez's attorneys asked for a five-year sentence. Prosecutors told jurors he deserves the maximum sentence.
In a recording of the incident, Rodriguez tells a dispatcher he fears for his life and is standing his ground.
Defense attorneys say Rodriguez acted in self-defense, but prosecutors say he was the aggressor.
A Florida neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in February is relying on a stand-your-ground law for his defense.
