July Events at Vermilionville

LAFAYETTE, LA - Vermilionville Living History Museum & Park hosts many special events each month including its weekly Cajun Jam on Saturdays, Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) as well as year round exhibits. The village is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students, $8 for senior citizens 65+ and children under 6 get in free. See below for a list of upcoming events.

Tony Cutera's See What I See
Tuesdays - Sundays April 20 - July 27
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in La Cuisine de Maman
A native of Opelousas, Cutera made Lafayette his home after earning a BA degree in art at ULL (then SLI), and worked as the advertising/marketing director for Heymann's Department Store for over 50 years. Working in watercolors, oils and acrylics, his work is reflective of beautiful Louisiana, capturing the lush greenery and contrasts of the ever changing countryside. Click here for more info.

Bal du Dimanche with Goldman Thibodeaux & the Lawtell Playboys
1 - 4 p.m.
Dance the afternoon away with Goldman Thibodeaux & the Lawtell Playboys at Vermilionville's weekly Sunday Dance. Join Vermilionville for their weekly Cajun Jam led by some of the area's finest musicians. The free jam is held in the Performance Center of Vermilionville and is open to all skill levels-beginner to professional. Free admission is for jam only and does not include entry to the park. CCET's Backyard Lecture Series
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
July's topic is Louisiana Dancehalls. The series is sponsored in part by Decentralized Arts Funding distributed by the Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts in partnership with the Vermilionville Foundation. Free and open to all ages. Click here for more info.

Canoe Paddle
8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The community is invited to take a canoe trip on the Bayou Vermilion. $5 insurance fee to American Canoe Association for a canoe or bring your own canoe or kayak and paddle for free. Canoe trips are held every second and last Saturday of the month weather and river conditions permitting. Please RSVP in advance by emailing Margot Addison or calling (337) 233-4077 x 205.

Vermilionville will be offering two educational summer camps this July for students in grades third through fifth. Both half-day summer camps, History Comes Alive and Natures Comes Alive, are being offered July 16 - 20 or July 23 - 27 with an optional lunch break in between for those children who sign up for both camps. To register visit the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Continuing Education website at ce.louisiana.edu or by calling (337) 482-6386. For more information about the summer camps click here.
