SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A state district judge has sentenced a teenager to life in prison for the fatal shooting and robbery of the assistant director of Shreveport Green.
District Judge Roy Brun said Monday that not giving Markeece Mosley the maximum penalty for the second-degree murder of Yvonne Lee would lead to a certain life of crime for the 18-year-old.
Lee's husband gave Mosley a Bible and a letter he'd written that was not read at the sentencing.
Jurors last Thursday found Mosley guilty in the death of the 50-year-old woman, who was shot as she drove Mosley home amid a theft investigation.
Lee was in charge of Shreveport Green's ShreveCORPS program, which helps young adult develop life skills. Mosley began working for ShreveCORPS in September 2009.
