LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Louisiana judge has postponed the trial of a Florida man accused in the 2009 death of a teenage at a Sulphur nightclub.
It was reported that 28-year-old David A. Nelson is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly throwing the punch that fatally injured 19-year-old Chad Heath on
March 28, 2009.
Heath, who fell and struck his head on concrete, died a few days later.
Authorities said Nelson fled and was arrested later that day in Crestview, Fla., by federal marshals.
Judge Kent Savoie granted a one-week continuance when Nelson's defense attorneys requested more time to investigate the case.
The trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but the defense claimed it found witnesses who have a different recollection of what happened outside the club.
