St. Landry Parish is with one fewer judge today following the retirement of a parish judge.
Ellis Daigle stepped down Friday after serving nearly nine years on the bench.
"Things have come up in my life that I feel are necessary to address," Daigle said. "I've enjoyed thoroughly what I have done. I felt like we made a difference in doing things in the office of judge. Other things have come up that I feel that I need to pursue."
When asked what those other endeavors are, Daigle declined comment, saying he would discuss the issue at a later date.
A retirement reception will be held Thursday at the Delta Grand from 11 a.m until 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
