Jennings Police Department (JPD) reports that there may be further arrests in the drug bust at a Jennings home thought to have been a childcare facility.
Early Tuesday, the JPD posted on its Facebook page that it had executed a "search warrant on a residence located on S. Lake Arthur Ave in Jennings." The JPD also had posted that "the residence was occupied by Whitney Paige Myers, W/F, and was also used as a state approved child care facility."
JPD Deputy Chief Danny Semmes clarified that, in actuality, that this 1306 S. Lake Arthur address was only "a licensed applicant for daycare."
The deputy chief said that the warrant was executed at 3 a.m. and that no children were in the residence at the time.
Semmes also clarified that the 1306 S. Lake Arthur home should not be mistaken for the Save the Children Head Start facility further down the same road. Currently, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services indicates only two licensed daycare facilities in Jennings: Save the Children and Brite Beginnings.
Semmes said that JPD also is considering an arrest warrant for Myers's brother for alleged possession of a controlled dangerous substance (steroids).
"We currently are investigating that case. Other arrests may be possible," Semmes said.
Officers reported that, in the residence, they located a scale, along with small amounts of marijuana and Schedule II pills. Three weapons, officers said, were also recovered, two of which were semi-automatic pistols that had their serial numbers removed or altered.
