METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The Jefferson Parish Library is offering a special "fine forgiveness" deal for people holding onto overdue items.
The offer, set to run April 15-30, coincides with the National Library Week, which occurs during the third week of April. Patrons who need duplicate library cards due to loss or theft also will be able to get them for free during National Library Week.
The fine forgiveness arrangement applies to books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes and other items borrowed from the library. The offer does not apply to fines already on a borrower's record for items that have already been returned.
The library will forgive fines on items returned in person and items left in drop boxes.
