A Jordanian man has pleaded guilty in Louisiana to a charge he entered into a fraudulent marriage to change his immigration status.
Emad Edin Yousef Abdallah faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine following his guilty plea on Monday in U.S. District Court in Lafayette to marriage fraud.
Federal prosecutors say the 29-year-old divorced a woman in June 2010 before marrying a second woman in June 2011 in an effort to evade immigration laws.
His sentencing is set for July 12.
