Jonesville projects will improve water, sewer

JONESVILLE, La. (AP) - Residents of Jonesville will soon enjoy cleaner drinking water and safer wastewater handling following improvements funded in part by a zero-percent interest loan from the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority.
The Town Talk reports the projects will replace the entire water distribution system in the Catahoula Parish town, much of which has been in service since the 1920s and 1930s.
Under the projects, the town will drill two new water wells and also install a new 200,000-gallon ground storage tank. Jonesville will also install new digital water meters.
The cost of the water system improvements is to be funded by the issuance of Utilities Revenue Bonds totaling $3.2 million. The LPFA will provide another $498,000 loan to be applied to the cost of the sewer system improvements totaling $3.3 million.
