Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, June 11, 2012 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for John Paul Mire, Sr., 81 who died Thursday, June 7, 2012 in New Iberia .
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM .
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
Born on February 8, 1931 , Mr. Mire proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines. He was the owner of Mire's Camera Shop, and had worked in sales for over 30 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, photography, growing fruit trees, and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mauldin Mire of New Iberia; sons, Major John Paul Mire, Jr. and wife Suzanne Alleman Mire of Alexandra, VA, Ross Mauldin Michael Mire and wife Kim Frederick Mire of Charenton, Richard McSwain Mire and wife Julie Kelly Mire of Winchester, VA; daughter, Margo Mire Baker and husband David Baker of Lafayette; sister, Claire Mire of New Iberia; 8 grandchildren, Simon Pecnik, Benjamin Pecnik, Andrwe Mire, Hunter Mire, Isabella Mire, Kelsey Mire, John Michael Baker, and Thomas Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Emil Mire, Sr., and Jeanne Pauline Suberbielle Mire; a brother, Richard E. Mire, Jr.; and a sister, Pamela Suzanne Mire.
