Governor Bobby Jindal will release the latest state budget Friday, and lawmakers are still in the dark about what the budget holds. Senator Fred Mills, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, says he has not heard a word about what the budget includes from his colleagues or members of the governor's staff. Mills says because of this, he does not if cuts affecting critical services in Acadiana will be made. He continued by saying that Jindal's original budget will be revised multiple times by the legislature and the governor before the final version is adopted.

A legislative five-year budget projection anticipates a shortfall of $1 billion.
