Plans to move City Hall and renovate other city departments could be underway by August.
The American Press reports the Jennings City Council will receive bids Tuesday for the first segment of the $6 million project.
The first phase includes renovating the former Allwest Building on North Main Street to house City Hall and moving the city court and legal department to the city-owned conference center on State Street.
Mary Terry Duhon says officials hope construction can begin by Aug. 1 with completion of the City Hall project within 14 months.
A second phase will include renovating the public safety building on Broadway Street to ease overcrowding at the city's fire and police departments. Upgrades will also be made to the city's street and public works departments.
