Jennings Police Department Makes Traffic Stop Resulting in the Seizure of Over 500lbs of Marijuana

The Jennings Police Department Directed Patrol Units Cannine Officer stopped a vehicle on I-10 East Bound for a traffic violation. The officer conducted interviews with the driver and passenger and became suspicious when the occupants stories didn't make sense. Further investigation, resulted in the officer requesting permission to search the vehicle. Upon search of the Chevrolet avalanche, officers found under the covered bed area, 18 large bundles of marijuana. Officers took in to custody Trenell m. Clark of America Street New Orleans La. Age-31 and Gardnell T. Clark- of South Lake Drive, HoustonTexas Age- 24. The two suspects had several young children belonging to Ms. Clark, in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Both subjects were processed and booked into the city of Jennings Jail and the children were turned over to La. Office of Child Services. The marijuana with an estimated weight of over five hundred pounds has a street value of over one million dollars and is the largest marijuana seizure for the newly formed "Directed Patrol Unit" since its creation just over a year ago.
