A 19-year-old Jennings man is accused of breaking into his next-door neighbor's house, spending the night and stealing more than a dozen guns and a car from his neighbor's home.
Jennings Police Department Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said the burglary took place Tuesday in the 600 block of East Plaquemine Street, where the suspect and neighbor, Nathan McCann, stole about 15 guns and also found the keys to his neighbor's car.
After spending the night at his neighbor's house, McCann reportedly stole the vehicle, loaded all of the guns into the trunk and sold the guns at a Lafayette pawn shop.
Police were patrolling the Jennings area in search of McCann Tuesday afternoon and eventually located the car in the Walmart parking lot. McCann was arrested as he was leaving Walmart.
Semmes said the stolen guns have been located, but Jennings officers are still working with the Lafayette Police Department to recover the stolen guns.
McCann was booked into the city jail on three counts of aggravated burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
