The Jennings City Council approved a 10 percent rate increase for water and sewer fees and a 2.2 percent increase for trash collection.
The measure was approved unanimously at Tuesday's council meeting, said Jennings Mayor Terry Duhon.
According to The Associated Press, the city annually adjusts the rates as part of the Consumer Price Index tied to fuel costs, salaries, insurance and other liabilities.
The increase will go into effect July 1.
AP reports that the increase would raise the average resident's water bill by about $4.50 a month, Duhon says. Customers who use more water would see a higher rate.
