A former U. S. Congressman says he will be running next year for Louisiana Attorney General.
Jeff Landry made the announcement this morning via a press release.
The New Iberia Republican served one term (2011-2013) representing the former Third Congressional District prior to its merger with the now defunct Seventh Congressional District. The Desert Storm veteran ran against and lost to fellow Republican Charles Boustany in the 2012 race for the newly combined seat.
Prior to his time on Capitol Hill, Landry worked as a sheriff's deputy, policeman, and lawyer. Since returning to Louisiana, Landry has resumed his work as a private business attorney.
In the release, Landry called for fiscal responsibility and professionalism in the Attorney General's Office.
