A Jeanerette man is booked into the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Correctional Center for burglary and battery after he allegedly kicked in the door of a residence.
At 2:30 am, on February 1, 2013 two women occupants of an apartment located in the 100 block of Allison Street in Lafayette Parish were awakened by a man kicking in the front door of their apartment.
According to authorities, the suspect reportedly struck at least one of the victims repeatedly in her face causing sufficient injury requiring immediate advanced medical attention.
As deputies were responding to the one road leading into and out of the complex, deputies observed a vehicle leaving at a high rate of speed and subsequently stopped that vehicle. The driver was wearing clothes matching the description provided by the victims. Deputies say the driver denied any involvement. Other deputies at the scene reported that a clear shoe impression was visible on the victim's apartment door and an impression of the sole print was matched to the shoes being worn by the driver of the stopped vehicle.
Justin Harding 26-years-old from Jeanerette was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of second degree battery and booked in the parish jail where he remains, bond has not yet been set.
Harding's motive was not immediately known it is unclear if the victims knew Harding.
